Trump effigies hung in Iraq amid calls for US withdrawal

Effigies of US President Donald Trump and US soldiers were hung from gallows by protesters demanding the expulsion of US troops from Iraq.
The symbolic figures could be found in various locations around Baghdad on Wednesday.

“The goal of placing Trump figures and American soldiers, as they saw that when they occupied Iraq the strong resistance from Islamic association and this response, God willing, will be faced by Trump,” a resident of Baghdad said.

Placards depicting Trump with a rope wrapped around his neck were placed on gallows-like wooden columns in various locations across the capital.
Demands for US troops to withdraw from Iraq have been growing since the killing of Iranian Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani in a targeted airstrike on January 3. The attack prompted Iraqi parliament to vote for the expulsion of American troops.
